Accounting & Finance Expert (US GAAP & SEC Reporting)

Alignerr is looking for experienced accounting professionals—including CPAs, Staff/Senior Accountants, and Controllers—to evaluate, audit, and improve AI-generated finance and accounting content. In this role, you will act as the ultimate authority on accuracy, ensuring that advanced artificial intelligence systems meet the rigorous compliance and technical standards that real-world financial operations demand.

This is a fully remote, highly flexible contract role. No prior AI or technology background is required—just deep, hands-on knowledge of US accounting frameworks and an uncompromising eye for detail.

What You’ll Do

• Audit US GAAP Content: Review AI-generated technical documentation, accounting guidance, and explanations to guarantee absolute compliance with US GAAP standards.

• Evaluate SEC & Regulatory Material: Audit AI outputs concerning complex corporate financial statement preparation, regulatory compliance, and SEC disclosures.

• Review Quantitative Models: Stress-test AI-produced financial models—including DCF analyses, valuation structures, and Excel-based templates—for numerical accuracy and real-world applicability.

• Detect Misstatements & Gaps: Systematically identify technical calculation errors, improper accounting guidance, and logical gaps within AI analyses.

• Author Training Scenarios: Create and review high-quality sample financial scenarios, complex journal entries, and ledger workflow examples to teach the AI optimal accounting practices.

• Deliver Structured Feedback: Provide clean, professional, and detailed written feedback explaining precisely how to correct technical financial errors.

Who You Are

• Seasoned Accounting Practitioner: Hold hands-on, verifiable experience within US financial workflows (as a CPA, Staff/Senior Accountant, Corporate Controller, or equivalent institutional role).

• US GAAP Subject Matter Expert: Possess an ironclad working knowledge of US GAAP principles and their practical application to corporate balance sheets.

• Core Workflow Fluent: Deeply familiar with corporate financial statement preparation, month-end close mechanics, and complex general ledger management.

• Modeling Literate: Comfortable parsing foundational financial modeling concepts, including DCF frameworks, comparable company analysis, and spreadsheet math.

• Methodical Reviewer: Naturally detail-oriented with a systematic approach to auditing highly technical, regulated financial content.

• Clear Communicator: An exceptional written communicator who can break down complex accounting codifications into clear, precise instruction paths.

Nice to Have (Bonus Points)

• An active CPA license or equivalent professional accounting certification.

• Direct experience preparing or auditing SEC reporting documents (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K filings) for public corporations.

• A background in audit, tax, or transaction advisory at a public accounting firm.

• Proficiency operating within major enterprise ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) or core accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero).

• Advanced Excel modeling capabilities, including macro/VBA design or direct FP&A experience.

• Familiarity with IFRS or cross-border technical accounting standards.
